Diseasses and illnesses

Many therapies have the theory that illnesses are caused by unprocessed emotions that have settled in a certain body part of a person. In many families, members have the same kinds of diseases or illnesses which can be looked at as a family pattern. Pay attention to the kinds of illnesses and diseases that are present within your family, especially in what body part they occur.

There are many sayings that involve a body port and/or an (probable) illness;

- Carry the world on your shoulders,                               - It turns my stomach,
- Have broad shoulders,                                                 - Have no stomach for,
- Get the elbow,                                                            - I can’t stomach that,
- To get it of your chest,                                                - Bring a person to his knees,
- Give heartburn,                                                           - Beaten to one’s knees
- Eat your heart out,                                                      - On bended knees,
- His heart wasn’t in it,                                                  - An eye for an eye,
- Putting one’s heart into …                                            - Have one’s eyes about one,
- My heart was in my mouth,                                          - That is one in the eyes for him,
- Be on one’s last legs,                                                   - Crying your eyes out,
- Not have a leg to stand on,                                           - Sticking your neck out,

When these sayings are taken literally, they take on a whole new meaning. The expressions and sayings should give you some idea what could be your (family) case. If you use one or more of these expressions regularly in conversations, it could be an indication of such a family pattern.

If there are a few mental cases to be found in your (family) history, is there a pattern? You are a product, if you like it or not, of your mother and your father. So you will need to look into both sides of the family if possible. Did somebody die or was excluded of a mental illness? What effect did it have on your family?
