Systemic work, including family and organization constellations (according to Bert Hellinger), has been very popular in Europe for many years. Here in Canada and North America the interest in this powerful and highly effective is growing and because of this growing interest we are able to offer a 15 day course at highly competitive prices.
This fifteen day course is designed specifically for those who want to facilitate family- and organization constellations and consists of five blocks of three consecutive days. Family systems are very complex and you will at least learn the basics of how family systems work such as the family order, entanglements, etc. and how to put things right, if possible. You will not only learn to work with constellations in large and small groups but also to work with individuals in one on one sessions. We teach you the proven classic constellation method, to work with blind constellations and many other related approaches in order to have you think “outside the box” and to be able to develop your own style in due time.
Family- and organization constellations.
A family or organization can be viewed as a system, where the different parts have to work together in order to function properly. Like in a car, one part can cause the whole system to malfunction. The part (a person) that is having problems can be a symptom of a malfunctioning system, not causing but instead signalling the problem. The idea of a family or organization being a system has been used on a limited basis in counselling but with great success and with amazing, virtually instant results. Results are not only achieved in a short time span but also with a profound and lasting effect. Constellations can be used for all sorts of issues; families, organizations, marketing, money, love, animals, work, etc. The list is endless.
How does it work?
One of the participants with a short question regarding a system (e.g. family, work) and wanting an insight or an answer does a constellation. A constellation is done by asking some of the participants to represent particular family members or certain parts of a system and places these representatives in the space available. The facilitator takes it from here. In individual sessions, objects might replace real people. By being placed and by moving around in a certain way, usually the hidden dynamics or patterns of the system are made evident. The person with the question is likely to get an insight into his family system or the answer to his or her question.
The purpose of constellations is to get more insight and a deeper understanding of subconscious dynamics of the system, for example what is playing an important role in the background. The uniqueness of this systemic-phenomenological approach is that once the family or organization is represented, the problem or issue usually becomes instantly clear to the person with the question. He or she can then start to work on and/or come to terms with what has been gained during the constellation. Usually a huge sense of relief and freedom is felt by the person who had the question.
For who?
This course is open to nearly everyone but is especially suitable for professionals such as Coaches/Counsellors, Social Workers, Mediators, HR Managers, Psychotherapists etc. For those with little or no experience as a life coach or counsellor we will schedule an intake meeting to find out if you meet our criteria in some other way. In some cases we offer a brief extra training (‘The Art of Life Coaching’) at extra charge to get familiar with the basic principles of life coaching/counselling.
COURSE OUTLINE
Block 1
Day 1 – Becoming aware and feel energetic fields.
As a facilitator you must be able to feel and recognize the difference between your own energy and other people’s energy. We will learn the basics of how to feel primary, secondary and systemic emotions.
Day 2 - The short systemic interview
Using the right systemic questions at the beginning of every constellation can give you a better insight into the systemic dynamics behind the client’s question. This day you'll learn what systemic questions to ask, to pay attention to the non-verbal signals and to connect with your client’s energy by using the ‘PEM’ asking method (Physical, Emotional and Mental).
Day 3- The basic principles of constellations
Today we go into what elements to use in a constellation and which ones to leave out (if applicable), how to guide a client to set up the initial constellation and how to take it from there. The latter will include some Step by Step exercises.
Block 2
Day 1 – Family- and personal history
Family patterns become more evident over time. You will work with one of your fellow students to find hidden dynamics in each other’s families by using a genogram
Constellation exercises:
Under supervision students will set up constellations in small groups and ask a few systemic questions (interview). The other students give feedback.
Day 2 - Constellations Language
One important element of constellations is the use of sentences, expressions of feelings and emotions, given by the facilitator to a representative. You will learn to find the right and most insight giving sentences and learn the effect of the `right` constellation language.
Family Constellations exercises.
Students set up constellations in small groups by starting with a short interview and taking the first 3 steps of a constellation. The extra element is to recognize emotions between representatives and to make them use some sentences. Feedback is given by the whole group.
Day 3 - Family drawings.
By using drawings picturing families in individual sessions you are able to give your client insight in hidden family dynamics given by the subconscious. One of the methods gives insight by holding the family drawings ‘against the light`. Another method we use is the PEM method to find the hidden dynamic(s) behind the question.
Block 3
Day 1 - Rituals
Rituals are used during constellations to heal and release old (family) issues. These rituals are very powerful and can also be used during individual coaching/counselling sessions.
Using tools.
To challenge your client to make a life change or make the right choices in life, you can use tools like: paper, mats, stones etc. Sometimes it might give your clients insight within minutes. It becomes even more powerful if you are able to use the PEM asking method and ‘systemic knowledge’.
Day 2 - Using mats.
Mats can be used as a replacement of live representatives. Clients will feel the energy when standing on the mats representing particular things. This method can also be used to set up a constellation during individual sessions.
Using maninkins.
Manikins (small wooden dolls used for drawing classes) are very useful for setting up a 3-D constellation on a table, for example, in a one on one session. Put in front of them (the dynamic) clients will instantly recognize what’s going on. This method and using the mats are nearly as powerful as using live representatives
Day 3
Family constellations with guests.
The trainer sets up a family constellation. This day other people (family, friends, etc) can be invited to experience the systemic work.
Block 4
Day 1- Different kinds of constellations
There are several ways to set up a constellation. You will learn how to use different kinds of constellations such as blind constellations, movement of the soul, etc.
Day 2 - Family constellations exercises.
Students set up (family) constellations in small groups.
Day3 – Other kinds of constellations – organizations, money, animals etc.
This day you will be introduced to more abstract constellations. We will examine into the similarities and differences.
Block 5
Day 1- Setting up constellations.
Students will work in front of the whole group under supervision and receive feedback from the other students.
Day 2 - Family constellations exercises.
This day guests (family, friends, etc) are invited. The students work with a ‘buddy’ (another student) and complete a whole constellation, if possible
Day 3 – Family constellations exercises.
We discuss what we have learnt so far and see what could be practised again or in more detail.
The itinerary of this day is entirely up to the students but has to be agreed upon by you all.
